Green is one of the few colours that can do the job of a neutral while still reading as a decision. Worn open over a plain white shirt or a fine cream roll neck, it becomes the kind of thing that looks like effort was made without anyone being able to say exactly what that effort was. Tailored trousers and loafers push it towards the office, while a slip skirt and boots take the same cardigan into the evening without any real change of pieces underneath.
It suits the moments where a jumper feels too casual and a jacket feels too formal, the school run, a long lunch, a train journey, an afternoon that starts as work and ends as something else.
