The shoulder seam has to sit exactly where the arm meets the body, the lapel needs enough weight to roll properly rather than curl, and the button stance should land at or just below the narrowest part of the torso so the jacket actually closes with room to move. Styling one well is mostly about what happens underneath and at the hem. Worn open over a simple top and straight leg trousers, it reads as put together without trying.
