Yellow is the difference between a cardigan you’ll reach for October-March and one that lives in your wardrobe collecting dust. When done right it smacks of warmth, not costume. Cheap loose acrylic knits pill, cuff sleeves stretch after a few wears, and lose their depth of colour after a couple of washes. A finely knitted merino wool or cotton blend will last you a season before showing signs of wear. Look out for a collar or button placket with body to it as well. Nothing ruins a coloured cardigan like a saggy neckline.
How you wear it:
Like I said before, let the colour do the talking. Pair with denim, cream, grey or navy and allow the cardigan to be the focal point rather than piling on patterns and bold colours. Throw it open over a plain t-shirt for an in between layer during the unpredictable seasons. Buttoned over a collared shirt for something more office appropriate.
Or wear it as your only garment above the shirt for easy breezy autumnal days. Team it with tailored trousers for something smarter or straight leg jeans to keep things casual.

Yellow cardigans aren’t something you’ll wear to midnight dinner parties or while conducting serious business. Keep them for daytime low stress environments: Weekend brunch. Weekdays at your desk. Autumn walks. Family dinners where you don’t want to lookDT chased but still want to look cheerful and seasonally appropriate.
