I spent a solid three years avoiding blue mini skirts entirely because of one denim disaster in 2016 that made me look like I was auditioning for a farm themed hen do. A crisp white shirt tucked in looks put together in about four seconds flat. A fine knit in autumn, bare legs and boots in the in between weather, tights and a longer coat once it turns properly cold. Trainers pull it casual, a heeled boot makes it evening without trying too hard.
Occasion wise, this is the skirt for the day that has two different plans in it. Coffee in the morning, something less predictable by evening. It works for the office if the top is doing the sensible half of the outfit, and it works for a Saturday that starts with brunch and ends somewhere you didn’t plan to be. Not a fete. Never again a fete.
